DESCRIPTION: Participation To Healthy Workplaces And including Strategies in the Work Sector (PATHWAYS) is a project co-financed by the 3rd Health Program of the European Union. Coordinated by Dr. Matilde Leonardi, it began in 2015.

It is a 3-year EU project that contributes to the “Development of innovative approaches to promote the professional integration and reintegration of people with chronic diseases and improve their employability”. People with chronic diseases and mental disorders often experience work-related problems, which leads to negative consequences at the individual, national, and European levels. The increase in the prevalence of people with chronic diseases and mental disorders, as well as the current economic crisis, make this problem even more damaging, which requires action in terms of innovative strategies to improve the participation of these people in the labor market.

PATHWAYS aims to identify the integration and reintegration strategies available in Europe, determining their effectiveness, as well as assessing the specific needs related to the employment of people with chronic diseases and mental disorders, developing strategies that support the implementation of effective professional integration and reintegration strategies.
