Attending Psychiatrist and Adjunt Professor

Carmen Bayón is a psychiatrist and a Doctor of Medicine. She is a coordinator of the Day Hospital in Mental Health at the Hospital Universitario La Paz and associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). She is a senior researcher in the Research Group in Psychiatry and Mental Health of the Research Institute of the Hospital Universitario La Paz (IdiPAZ). She is an expert in the design and implementation of clinical trials of psychological interventions for people with serious mental health problems and chronic diseases (chronic pain, multiple sclerosis …). She is a principal investigator in the project “Psychological implications of COVID-19 (Psy-19-HULP)” and has worked as a researcher in other projects on infectious diseases, especially HIV. She is a collaborating researcher in the project “Improving the Preparedness of Health Systems to Reduce Mental Health and Psychosocial Concerns resulting from the COVID-19 Pandemic (RESPOND).” She is a professor of mindfulness with experience in guiding mindfulness-based interventions and a professor-in-training in the MBSR program at Brown University.
